SUBJECT: Shooting Incident

On March 29, 2010, at 7:55 PM, the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office received a report from Poudre Valley Hospital, that a 19-year-old male had arrived at the hospital via a private vehicle and was being treated for a gunshot wound to the left buttocks and lower abdomen. It appeared that the wounds were not life threatening. Deputies and investigators responded to initiate an investigation.
Shortly after the initial report, deputies made contact with an 18-year-old male in the parking lot of JJ’s Lounge who was driving the
vehicle that transported the victim to the hospital. JJ’s is located at the intersection of Harmony and Taft Hill Road.
Investigators have conducted interviews with two juvenile males who were present at the time of the shooting. Preliminary information received indicated that the shooting occurred somewhere in the area of Horsetooth Reservoir. Investigators were able to identify the residence in the area where the shooting occurred. Preliminary findings indicate that two adult black males were also present at the residence when the shooting occurred. These two males remain unidentified at this time. Investigators are continuing to interview witnesses and follow up on leads as they come in. Based on information received at this point, it appears the shooting occurred during a drug transaction.
